Rejoicing in God, realizing our faith, reaching our neighbors...all for the glory of God!

Relay For Life Team

The A.C.T.S. class has established the Relay for Life Team "Jeremiah 29:11" in memory of member Jane Lamb who died from cancer in 2008.  The team will be participating in the Relay event on May 8-9th from 6pm-6am at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds.

Our Jeremiah 29:11 Relay for Life team is gearing up for our spring fundraising! The Relay for Life event takes place at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds from 6p to 6a on May 7-8, 2010. Last year our team raised over $5,000 to support the American Cancer Society. We are planning some exciting activities to raise money for cancer research and patient and family services. Please contact team captains, Cindy Rubenstein ruben2cd@jmu.edu or Susan Morris scmorris@rockingham.k12.va.us if you are interested in participating as a team member this year or go to the Relay for Life website and register with our team at https://secure3.convio.net/tacs/site/TRR/600620982.

On Saturday, February 6th, we are hosting a Scrapbook and Craft Day at church from 9a to 5p. The registration fee is $20 and includes breakfast and lunch, door prizes, and the availability of a Creative Memories consultant. Come join us and get some of those “waiting projects” done and enjoy fellowship with others! Feel free to invite friends and family members. Contact Susan (908-8892) or Cindy (209-2506) to pre-register by Wednesday February 3rd.

On Saturday, March 6th from 5p to 7p, we will host a Crockpot Cook-off and Silent Auction. Individuals and groups can enter the cook-off with any category of food that is prepared in a crockpot. Unlimited tastings will be available for $10/adults and $5/children with 3 voting tickets for your favorite crockpot recipes. The winner of the contest will be awarded the “Crockpot King or Queen for 2010” and receive a $25 giftcard. Drinks and bread items will be provided to accompany the tastings and cleanse the palate. Kids’ PB&J meals will be available for $3 just in case they are not so adventurous! So pull out those cookbooks and get creative with your recipes. There will be many wonderful items available for purchase from the silent auction during this evening.

This year as we walk around the track (our team has someone walking at all times between 6p and 6a), we plan to dedicate each hour to an individual who is surviving or has lost their life to cancer. Please contact Susan or Cindy if you are interested in nominating a church member or family member for whom we will walk in honor or memory of on May 7th. You may select to actively walk during that hour or have us walk for you.
